Vallecas, Madrid, September 1

August 31, 2010

Vallecas came back to life today, after spending all of August on vacation. My chorizo hookup was back washing the windows of his shop. The obese alcoholic woman from down the street was being wheeled into the back of an ambulance again. There were lots of people shopping on Avenida de la Albufera. And lots of dog walkers in el Parque de las Tetas, otherwise known as el Parque del Cerro del Tío Pío. All in all, a pretty good day.

How did I end up in Spain? Why am I still here almost 20 years later? Excellent questions. With no good answer... Anyway, at some point I became a blogger, bestselling author and contributor to Lonely Planet. So there's that. Drop me a line, I'm happy to hear from you.
