Frustrated with Spanish bureaucracy?
I know. We all are.
At times, it seems like the “funcionarios” are only in it to make our lives more difficult.
Luckily, some people are making things easier. For example, my friends over at Continentalis.
When I was applying for Spanish nationality, Continentalis got me the FBI background check, my official birth certificate (long form!) and an apostille and sworn translation for each – and it only took a couple of weeks.
Quick, easy, and much less stressful than flying out to the US myself (or having a family member harass the Arizona Secretary of State on my behalf).
I recommend them, therefore, and since they’re a new company they’d like to offer something to my readers here.
Get help modifying your auxiliar visa with Continentalis Express
The folks, there, are launching an emergency service pack for Auxiliares de Conversación to apply for residence as a self-employed “autónomo” — AKA “cuenta propia”, AKA freelancer — for a great presale price, especially for the readers of this blog.
Spanish immigration law is changing, and most immigration lawyers are advising Auxiliares de Conversación to apply for modifications before May 20th, 2025. It’s urgent!
Also, Continentalis understands that not everyone can afford a lawyer, so they’re creating a streamlined online process that’ll get the application done quickly, without breaking the bank.
Here’s the offer, visit their website for all the details…
Continentalis Express (the app) will launch on April 15th, but you can pre-order the emergency service pack at a significant discount. Use the discount code DANIEL when you sign up to get the special price.
(I get a bit of an affiliate commission if you sign up.)
Go to Continentalis Aux to Self-Employment to buy the service pack, and don’t forget to use promo code DANIEL.
The offer is until May 1st for presale customers.
More information from one of the founders of Continentalis
Since I’m not a lawyer, let me just quote from the info sent to me by Roberto, a legal eagle over at Melcart Abogados.
“As I’m sure everyone’s heard by now, the new Spanish immigration regulation, Royal Decree 1155/2024, is coming into force on 20 May. The new decree puts Auxiliares de Conversación in a bind: if the immigration authorities take a strict interpretation of the new reg, Auxes won’t be able to modify from stay for the purposes of studies (‘student visa’) to residence and self-employment (‘cuenta propia residence’), anymore.
“Our firm and firms all over the country recommend Auxes who intend to become residents in Spain apply as soon as they can, and certainly no later than 19 May.
“We know not everyone can afford to pay a lawyer or agent to process their case for them. We also know that dealing with digital certificates, Autofirma, etc., especially on a tight deadline, is deeply frustrating.
“Our firm’s been collaborating with Continentalis to create this online immigration case management system, Continentalis Express, and the very first service we’re making available is an Aux > Residence’ pack.
“Joanne Ortiz, the managing partner and programming whiz at Continentalis, says the platform will let users create and manage their immigration cases entirely online, from computers, tablets, phones, etc., with your case documents accessible on the online platform from any device.
“Perhaps most importantly, you don’t have to worry about digital certificates, Autofirma, Cl@ve, DEHú, MERCURIO, SARA… Imagine having Autofirma crash right before the deadline to file!
“Also, the app will download notifications for you automatically on the 10th day after it’s made available, so you don’t miss any deadlines to get notified of requirements or resolutions.”
More fun with Spanish bureaucracy…
I (Daniel, AKA Mr Chorizo) wish you the best of luck with your visa processes. These things aren’t always easy
or straightforward.
I’ve been dealing with Spanish bureaucracy for over 20 years now, so I’m something of a veteran here. The main thing I’ve learned through the years is that it’s cheaper, in the long term, to get competent help.
So sign up with the promo code DANIEL over at the Continentalis site to file your application for a “cuenta propia” residence permit before the law changes.
And if you need a full-service legal consultation, don’t be afraid to reach out to Melcart Abogados – Continentalis’ partner company.
They’re based in Madrid but work all over Spain.
Have a good one,
Daniel AKA Mr Chorizo.
P.S. We’ve got more stuff for auxiliares up here on the blog. For example the pros and cons of the NALCAP program. And perhaps you’d like to hear about my first sixteen years of work permit hustle for more on why you should pay for good legal advice rather than just winging it. Or (more recently) my Spanish Nationality adventure – still in progress. Enjoy!
