Don’t Shoot the Translator!

I would say that generally, “don’t shoot the translator” is a good principle to live by. However, this particular translator might have it coming to him.

Coffee with muffins is fine.

Coffee with toast… No problem.

Coffee with bread Tumaca? That’s a pretty mysterious thing to call a piece of bread with some olive oil and tomato on it.

Beer? Yes please.

Riding? Really? Is that your translation? If we were saying “Dos hombres montados a caballo” that would be fine. Two men riding horses. But here they’re talking about open-faced sandwiches. You know. A piece of bread with something on it.

Also, a couple of wine glasses might be a nice way to finish off the night. But it would be better if they had actual wine in them.

Oh well, what can I do?

Not much, I guess.

Yours,

Mr Chorizo.

How did I end up in Spain? Why am I still here almost 20 years later? Excellent questions. With no good answer... Anyway, at some point I became a blogger, bestselling author and contributor to Lonely Planet. So there's that. Drop me a line, I'm happy to hear from you.
